There are three types of planned time off (PTO) rules (Plan > Auto-approve service > Rules) that can be applied by activity or supervisor level then analyzed by the auto-approve service when an agent requests PTO:
- Blackout rules - no one can request time off on a designated blackout day.
- Brownout rules - only a certain number or percentage of agents/hours are allowed to be off.
- Minimum request interval - requests must be made ahead of time by a designated number of days.
The auto-approve service must be enabled for these rules to apply to a PTO request (Settings > Application settings > Administrative settings > Services > Auto-Approve service).
After setting up the rules, they can be configured in the time off rule settings (Plan > All things time off > Time off settings > Time off rule settings) in order to apply when an agent makes a time off request.
In this section you can also configure other rules that apply to Legacy Auto Approve, PTO Calendar Bid Rounds, PTO Calendar Partition, and the Waitlist Queue. These include rules checking for accrued hours, hire date eligibility, restricted activity plan, and calendar partition dates. Rules configured here apply based on the time off rules source (legacy, calendar partition, bid round), not the activity or supervisor.
