What happens to current users if I update to the new password requirements?
New with 5.0 service pack 2, there is an option to require strong passwords for web and mobile application authentication. If you change to the new option for longer minimum password length (10, 12, or 15 characters instead of 8), and/or requiring strong password (at least one uppercase letter, a number, and a special character instead of a simple password), it will not affect current users. Existing passwords will continue to work as before, and there is no prompt to update the password when changing to the new strong password. However, when updating to a new password, the password must meet the new guidelines.
Settings > Application settings > Global settings & preferences | Password Requirements: There are two password requirements options:
- Minimum password length: 8 (default), 10, 12, or 15 character minimum.
- Require strong passwords: At least one uppercase letter, a number, and a special character: ‘No, simple passwords are acceptable’ (default) or ‘Yes, require strong passwords.’
